What's New at The Green Pen...

After a much appreciated vacation and some great rounds of golf - we are feeling energized to tackle the Spring Crunch! The weather is warming up along with our clients' busy season. Expect a flood of new releases from www.ChesterHollowWaterGardens.com, www.BayStateAquascapes.com, www.HivelyLandscapes.com, and www.KeehnLandscape.com and www.KeehnPower.com .

In addition, Pam will be visiting Chester Hollow for their retail location's Grand Opening weekend and taking in the New England Spring Flower Show where she'll be checking out the displays from Bay State Aquascapes with MetroWest Water Gardens as well as Something Fishy and other local Certified Aquascape Contractors. Our next trip will be to Water Garden Excellence in St. Charles to present a session about e-Marketing for Aquascape, inc. Look for our presentation on our site next month!

Client Spotlight...

Pieter vanWestervelt is a new man - almost literally! Last July at Aquascape's Pondemonium™, Pete got his trademark ponytail cut off and he got a new "do". He also got a new determination to change his business, and what a difference it has made. Pete has transformed his business from a focus on landscaping services to water feature design and installation.

To go with that new transformation, Pete contacted The Green Pen to give his business a new look too - a new logo, collateral, and (of course) a new Web site. www.PremiumAquascapes.com gives a great polished look to his business but still has an element of fun (check out the bubbles). Great colors that complement the new logo and blend with the natural elements that make Pete's features stand out, he is more than happy to send customers to the site to check out his handy work.

But having had the joy of getting to know Pete, I also know that his success would not be possible without his great family, the support of his business affiliates and other local Certified Aquascape Contractors - and the guidance of Mid-West Territory Sales Manager "J.R." Zibrun. Pete is a perfect example of how working with a community equals Success!

Marketing Tip of the Month...

March always brings out the Irish in me! So, in honor of my Gaelic heritage and of the industry we love - I'm thinking GREEN! For those of you in the Water Feature and Landscape industries, you are already giving back to our ailing environment. But, do your clients know that?

As we here in the States start gearing up for the 2008 elections, you can be sure that Presidential hopefuls will be hard pressed to get through a public appearance without talking about how they plan to address Global Warming. So, go with it! Start letting your customers know that you (and they) are contributing to the solution when they improve their properties by adding plant life to their backyard ecosystem and by creating habitats for local wildlife. So, it's not just an investment in their properties, but an investment in our future!

How you can expand on that? Think about Rain Gardens (see Ed Beaulieau's article in Aquascape Lifestyles Spring 2007 Issue) or do 'Naturescaping' using native plant materials (Check out www.plantnative.org) or have a look at the hottest thing up North - the Backyard Ecotopia.

The message is clear, Green is in! Oh, and by the way, 'Erin go braugh'!
