The weather isn't the only thing heating up! Summer has arrived and you can almost feel the heat coming off the keyboards here at The Green Pen! So what is new? The Web site for Hively Landscapes (see our Client Spotlight) has officially been released and is getting rave reviews!

We have also finished the design for the Women of Watergardening (WOW) site just in time for Pondemonium™ in St. Charles, IL, hosted by Aquascape. If you would like to join our session, please go to the Web site and take a look at our agenda, or feel free to contact us for more information.

Scheduled releases for June and July include Keehn Landscape and Keehn Power as well as Bay State Aquascapes, followed by AquaScapes of New Hampshire in August. We are currently booking our Fall and Winter release calendar and it's filling up fast! We have been getting a phenomenal response from our clients and we are excited about all the new people who have signed on for future work. We thank all of you for your support!

I first met Rob Zoll at Pondemonium™ almost a year ago. From the moment we met I knew that he was not only a passionate member of the water gardening community but also a savvy business man. He was about to make a big move in his life and it has been a win-win situation. Hively Landscapes has been beautifying homes in York County, Pennsylvania for nearly 40 years and needed a new man to help run their business. Rob was anxious for a great opportunity to do what he does best for a top company in the industry, and since joining Hively they have both grown and prospered.

Rob called us to begin talking about how we could help improve Hively's presence on the Web. After months of collaboration on design and content we have developed a sharp and clean site that focuses on Hively's professionalism and reputation for excellence in all aspects of their business. One of the great elements of their site is the focus on their designers who are sought after for their amazing ability to transform their customers' landscapes into beautiful additions to their homes. This month I am keeping it short and sweet! And, so should you! I visit some Web sites and there are long-winded descriptions of the company and the work they do which tend to be self-aggrandizing. While some of that information is important such as training, professional memberships, and affiliations, try to steer away from making your site egocentric and focus on a customer, or a potential customer's perspective on what they need to know in order to find the value in working with you.
